About Venue - India

Location - Indian Peninsula is bounded to the southwest by the Arabian Sea, to the southeast by the Bay of Bengal and the Indian Ocean to the south. To the north, northeast and northwest are the Himalayas. Cape Comorin (Kanyakumari) constitutes the southern tip of the mainland Indian Peninsula, which narrows before ending in the Indian Ocean. The southernmost part of India is Indira Point in the Andaman and Nicobar Islands in the Bay of Bengal. The territorial waters of India extend into the sea to a distance of twelve nautical miles measured from the appropriate baseline. There is a great diversity of land forms such as Lofty Mountains, Deep Valleys, Extensive Plains, Wide Plates and a number of islands.

Andhra Pradesh

Andhra Pradesh, the "Rice Bowl of India", is a state in southern India. It lies between 12°41' and 22°N latitude and 77° and 84°40'E longitude and is bordered by the Bay of Bengal in the East. Andhra Pradesh is the 4th largest state in India by area and population. It is the largest and most populous state in South India. Andhra Pradesh has the second-longest coastline in India of 970 Kilometers The state is crossed by two major rivers, the Godavari and the Krishna. It has an area of 275,068 km2 & IST (UTC+5:30) Time zone.

Hyderabad

Hyderabad, the capital of Andhra Pradesh, is the fifth largest cosmopolitan city in India, rich in culture, enduring history and industrial growth. It is unique in being one of the few cities where tradition and technology co-exist. It has an estimated metropolitan population of 6.1 Million, making it India's sixth-largest metropolitan area. Hyderabad also called as - The City of Nawabs is now a hub of information technology (or IT), ITES (BPO) and biotechnology. Home to High Technology Machine tools, Defense and Aero Space companies, are steering the nation to new dimensions in the fields of AeroSpace Systems, Quality Systems, Information Technology, MEMS, Software Testing, Biotechnology, Pharmaceuticals, Business Management etc. to emerge as a land of immense business opportunities.

The city houses several Techno-townships, Hardware Parks, Software Parks, Special Economics Zones and Industrial Promotion Parks. Osmania University

Founded in 1918 by the seventh Nizam of Hyderabad, Nawab Mir Osman Ali Khan, Osmania University is the seventh oldest institution of higher learning in India, the third oldest in southern India and the first to be established in the erstwhile princely State of Hyderabad. For almost nine decades, it has sustained an integrated development of all faculties. It has contributed to the Academic, Social and Economic Development of the region and the nation as a whole. Its alumni have distinguished themselves nationally and internationally.

Osmania was the first university in India to adopt an Indian language, Urdu, as the medium of instruction until 1948. The birth of Osmania University with the lofty ideals of synthesizing the ancient and modern, the orient and occidental and development of national ethos in the academic pursuits of a higher order symbolized a renaissance in the Indian higher education system.

 

Once the state of AP was formed in 1956, Osmania emerged as the biggest university in the State and the country. Till 1976, it served the needs of higher education in the nine Telangana districts of the State, including the twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. With the establishment of Kakatiya University in 1976 at Warangal, Telangana University in 2006 at Nizamabad and Nalgonda university in 2007 the jurisdiction of Osmania University is now restricted to four districts.

Osmania University is a pioneering and performing university, accredited in 2001 by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) with the highest rating of five stars. The university is in service of the Nation by providing accessible, affordable and meaningful education to nearly three lakh students from the Telangana region in the State of Andhra Pradesh.
